Draft: these terms are being reviewed by a lawyer and may still change.
What we collect
Your email (or your Google sign-in name, email and photo); your profile (name, username, photo, bio, city, field, positions, skills, experience); the work, posts, opinions and “beautiful” reactions you share; who you follow; jobs you post or apply to; agreements, reviews and rental requests; your messages, so they can be delivered; and reports you send. Age, gender, nationality, address and phone are optional and private unless you choose to show them. We also note the type of device and browser you use (for example iPhone, Safari) to make Cobir work well on every device.
Your password
We never see or keep your password. If you sign in with a password, it is stored only in scrambled (hashed) form by our sign-in provider, so no one, including the Cobir team, can read it. If you sign in with Google, there is no Cobir password at all.
Your messages are private
The Cobir team cannot read your messages. The only exception is a report: when you report messages, you pick the first and the last message of what you want to report, and every message in between is included automatically. You can’t leave any out or change them. Only those reported messages become visible to the Cobir team, on the reports page, so we can review the report. The rest of your chat stays private.
Help & support chats
When you write to us in Help & support, the Cobir team reads your messages so we can help. When your problem is solved and the conversation closes, it disappears from your side, but the team keeps a record of it, with a few private notes, so we know your history if you contact us again. These chats are kept only for support and safety, and are deleted with your account. If you write without an account, we keep the name and email you give us to answer you, and a one-way scrambled code of your connection to stop spam.
What is public
Your profile, portfolio, posts, opinions, “beautiful” reactions, connections, credits and the reviews you receive can be seen by other Cobir members who are logged in. Your posts appear in the feed for everyone on Cobir. Clients only see the creatives who apply to their jobs. Private details stay private.
Jobs and rentals
Contact details are shared only when they are needed: a client and a creative see each other’s contact after the creative is accepted, and a partner’s phone and email are shown to a renter only after the partner accepts the request. Agreements, invoices and payment statements are seen only by the two sides and the Cobir team.
Profile views
We count how many people visit your profile, once a day per visitor, and only you see the totals. Visitors without an account are counted with a one-way scrambled code made from their connection, never their actual address. We never show who visited, and view counts never change anyone’s place in lists.
How we use it
To run Cobir: show your profile and work, power the feeds, search, jobs, agreements, Services and notifications, keep the community safe, and contact you about your account and things you take part in, by email and on the platform. We don’t sell your information and we don’t show ads based on it.
Who handles it
Your data is stored securely by Supabase (our database and file storage). The website runs on Vercel. Emails (for example a new agreement or a rental request) are sent through Resend. When you ask to translate a post, only its text is sent to our translation service (Claude, by Anthropic). If you sign in with Google, Google tells us your name, email and photo. Phone notifications go through your browser’s or phone’s own notification service. These services only use your data to provide their service to Cobir.
Sensitive information
Cobir never asks for your religion, political views, health or ethnicity. Some features may ask for more, and we always say why: for example, to rent gear or a space you may be asked for an ID, so the partner knows who they are renting to; and when payments run through a bank, your bank or card details may be needed. Your ID is stored securely and shown only to the Cobir team and to the partner or client you are working with, so they can confirm who you are. It is never public and never shared with anyone else. Bank and card details are handled by the bank or payment provider. Please don’t put ID numbers, bank details or passwords in posts or messages. Age and gender are optional and private by default.
Cookies
We only use the cookies needed to keep you logged in and remember simple settings. No advertising or tracking cookies.
Checking documents and proof
Documents you send to have your account checked, and private proof sent with a tick request, are seen only by the Cobir team and never shown on your profile. Tick proof is deleted 90 days after the team decides.
Payments and records
Agreements, invoices, receipts, payment confirmations, fee payment screenshots and partner statements are kept as records for both sides and for accounting. Payment screenshots are seen only by you and Cobir’s fees team. Your payment app is shown to a client only after you both signed an agreement.
Rental photos and help cases
Pickup and return photos are seen only by the renter, the partner and the Cobir team. Help cases, strikes and late-cancel notes are private to the people involved and the team.
Accepting the terms
We keep a record of which version of the terms you accepted and when (at sign-up, when you send or sign an agreement, and when the terms change).
Your choices
You can edit your profile at any time in Settings, choose which notifications you get, block people, and delete your posts, opinions and portfolio projects. You can also delete your whole account at the bottom of Settings; this removes your profile, your work and your data. Agreements and reviews that involve another person may be kept as a record for both sides.
Safety
We protect your data with security rules on every table, so people can only see and change what they are allowed to. The Cobir team’s access is limited to what is needed to run and protect the platform. No system is perfect; if something goes wrong that affects you, we’ll tell you.
Age
Cobir is for people 16 and over. If we learn that an account belongs to someone younger, we will remove it.
Changes
We may update this policy. If the changes are important, we’ll tell you on the platform.
